Here are a few of the first images from a new series that I’m working on where I explore my drag obsession by putting myself in drag. More to come soon!

Sorry for the lack of updates on here. I’ve been working on a new series and hope to post it soon!

In the meantime, here’s a HUGE print of my photo of Trangela Lansbury that I made for an upcoming show I was asked to be a part of. It’s going to be in SoCal and I will post more details about the show once I have them!

PS If anyone is interested in purchasing a large print like this of one of my images, just shoot me a message :)

My work is mentioned in this article! This was such a fun show to be a part of. I feel so lucky to have so many talented friends!

Becoming Trangela Lansbury (stop motion)

I wanted to share this video that I made last year of my friend Diego aka Trangela Lansbury getting into drag. It’s a stop motion video made up of over 250 still images. He’s a VERY talented artist and if you’d like to check out his work you can do so here!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to announce that I have opened an online shop where I am selling prints of my work. Go check it out!

http://sloanekanterphoto.storenvy.com/

Hey followers! Sorry for the lack of updates for a while. I have new shoots coming up soon and I’ll be posting more photos then.

In the meantime I wanted to see if any of my followers in the Los Angeles area are drag queens or know some queens that might be interested in shooting together. If so, please either send me a message on here or shoot me and email at sloanekanter@gmail.com

Thanks so much!

Sloane

I can’t believe that I didn’t post about this!

Here is the music video for San Cha’s song “Tease” that I helped make!

If you dig it feel free to share it!

Interview#16 Sloane Kanter

How old are you?
24

Where are you from?
I’m originally from Los Angeles and now live in San Francisco.

What kind of photographic equipment do you use?
I mainly use my Canon 5D Mark II

What do you do when you are not shooting?
When I’m not shooting some of the things I like to to are watch horror movies, be with friends, and go to drag shows.

What was the first photograph you were proud of?
This portrait I took of one of my best friends back in L.A. It’s from a few years back when I was first getting serious about photography.

How much preparation is there behind your photographs?
The main preparation I have to do is finding models. When it comes to my drag portraits almost all of the drag queens I ask are on board. It’s great getting to work with people who are really into it.

Have you ever done sacrifices or compromises as a photographer?
None that I can think of. And I feel really lucky to be able to say I haven’t had to make any sacrifices or compromises in my work so far.

What is your safe place?
I’m not sure. Maybe my bed.

Do you have any obsessions?
I have many. My two biggest obsessions are probably drag queens and dogs.

▶Is your intention to give a new dimension to fashion photography or to provoke the system?
I think that both of these statements are true about my work. With my drag portraits I am definitely trying to do a new take on fashion photography by using models that are “out of the ordinary”. With some of my other work, such as my same-sex couple portraits, I am trying to provoke the system. Since there has been so much controversy over equal rights and gay marriage, I wanted to create some beautiful portraits of gay couples to show my support for the cause.
